CrossFit Level 2 Certification
CrossFit Gymnastics Certification
Fitness has always been a huge part of my life. From playing soccer K-12 to rock climbing - or climbing anything for that matter - I've always been active and enjoyed it. From cutting down trees to tossing hay bales, for me, being active has always been a way to unwind, destress, and test what I’m capable of accomplishing. I’m grateful to have grown up surrounded by people who cared for and mentored me, such as my incredible parents who raised us, nine kids, through thick and thin. After high school graduation, the ALERT Academy Cadre forged leadership qualities through physical and mental challenges. Crossroads Christian Youth Center provided many opportunities for me to learn and serve. The list could go on and on. These various training grounds have helped shaped me into the man I am today.
Like many who got into CrossFit, I jumped in with full force and commitment. It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. It was competitive, fun, but most of all it gave me a sense of accomplishment after every single workout. I love that! After a while though, I started to realize that pushing my body to the absolute limit every day just simply wasn't sustainable, and soon it started pushing towards burn-out. What used to give me energy, began to feel like it was draining me. I knew there was a way to avoid this, I just want exactly sure how. Then, I began to fall in love with the mindset behind it all: sustainability. In order to still enjoy working out, I began to realize that if I focused on 'competing' or 'going-hard' only once or twice a week (opposed to every day), and 'just moving' the other days, I started to feel energized again! Outside the gym I enjoy spending time with my gorgeous wife (Sarah), listening to and playing music, and doing anything adventurous.
Helping people find a sustainable exercise and nutrition plan that'll energize their lifestyle is why I love coaching. From giving someone the support they need to drop a few pounds and feel themselves again (or for the first time), to teaching the bar muscle up or handstand push-up, it all gets me fired up. Coaching is a welcomed challenge for me because each person is different, learns a different way, and has their own unique complexities. I'm obsessed with helping people discover that taking care of their bodies through sustainable exercise and eating habits, should energize their life, not drain it. Too many people have fallen for those 'quick-fixes', and probably even found progress at the start, but simply got burned out or bored. It doesn't have to be that way!
